Enfants, adolescents nous (sur)vivons, assistons à des événements politiques, économiques, écologiques, sociaux impliquant le collectif et en devenons les héritier.es. Derrière l’IMPACT ! se niche l’idée de répétition, de résonance, de loop. Les causes systémiques pointant les raisons sous-jacentes à ces événements sont rapidement gommées au profit du déni, du « c’est comme ça ». L’émotion suscitée par les drames, catastrophes, crises politiques est passagère et retombe vite dans l’oubli laissant place à l’implacable recommencement.
Nous assistons à l’effondrement du biotope nous accueillant, à celui de la part humaine de l’humanité, nous sommes les spectateurs du non-retour, de ce que nous pensions être réservés aux récits dystopiques. Nous y sommes. l’IMPACT ! s’intéresse aux voix singulières inscrites dans le pluriel et tente de penser les prémices d’un récit choral portant sur les dysfonctionnements d’un système global destructeur. Les histoires s’entrechoquent, les voix rebondissent formant un écho symbolisant l’infini. Comment et à quel moment l’histoire collective s’immisce-t-elle dans l’histoire individuelle ? Y a-t-il un avant et un après où nous nous retrouvons irrévocablement pris dans l’histoire du temps ? Qu’en faisons-nous ? Quel impact à ce souvenir, ce vécu sur notre histoire individuelle et comment cela se répercute-t-il au sein des espaces sociaux où nous évoluons ?
Prendre soin de la mémoire collective c’est prendre acte de l’Histoire, de sa violence sociale, raciale, économique, coloniale, écologique, des mort.e.s, des blessé.e.s, des survivant.e.s, des laissé.e.s pour compte, des dommages collatéraux… l’IMPACT ! comme réceptacle : recevoir, entendre ce qui n’est ni pris en compte, ni compilé, ni archivé.
As children and teenagers, we live (survive), witness political, economic, ecological, and social events that affect society as a whole, and we become their heirs. Behind l’IMPACT! lies the idea of repetition, resonance, loops. The systemic causes underlying these events are quickly silenced in favor of denial, ‘that’s just the way it is.’ Emotions aroused by disasters, catastrophes or political crises quickly fade into oblivion, giving way to the implacable cycle of repetition.
As we witness the collapse of our biotope and of the human part of humanity, we are spectators of the non-return, to what we thought was confined to dystopian fiction. We are there.
l’IMPACT focuses on the singular voices inscribed within the collective and attempts to initiate a choral narrative that highlights the dysfunctions of a destructive global system. Stories collide and voices bounce back and forth to form an echo that symbolizes infinity. How and when does collective history intrude upon individual history? Is there a before and an after when we find ourselves irrevocably caught up in the flow of time? How do we deal with it? What impact does this memory, this experience, have on our individual history and how does it reverberate within the social spaces in which we evolve?
Taking care of collective memory means acknowledging History, its social, racial, economic, colonial, and ecological violence, and remembering the dead, the wounded, the survivors, the neglected, the collateral damages… l’IMPACT as a receptacle: receiving and hearing what is neither considered, compiled nor archived.
